VWS Subsidy for the Vaccine Academy

As part of the Dutch “Pandemic Preparedness”, it has been identified that in order to be better prepared for a future pandemic, more qualified personnel with knowledge of vaccine development, production and technology transfer (tech transfer) are needed.

For this purpose, a grant for the duration of 5 years was funded to Biotech Training Facility. For the period 2023 - 2028 a complete Vaccine Academy has been realized, with the following 6 programmes:

1) Job seekers programme

The job seekers programme has been set up for HBO & WO level educated graduates without GMP knowledge that would like to switch to a job in the Bioscience Industry.

2) Programme for unemployed people and lateral entrants

IIn collaboration with the Holland Rijnland Employer Service Centre, a comprehensive five-day training programme has been developed specifically for this target group. This programme has been very successful.

3) Training programme for MBO students

 For the MBO courses in Biomedical Analysis and Chemical and Physical Analysis, Biotech Training Facility offers two different training programmes, one for second-year students and one for third-year students.

4) Training programme for HBO students

For the HBO studies Biology and Medical Laboratory investigation, Biotech Training Facility offers two different training programmes for second-year and third-year students.

5) Training programme for University students

The first 2 editions for second year master students of the University of Leiden and the LUMC following the elective course “Practical aspects of Quality Management in Pharma and Biotech” have been successfully completed.
